Your reference to the Free Community Church is harsh as they have not done anything other than welcoming gay people that CHC and NCC and the Methodist church has rejected. They wanted to be left alone to worship God and we should respect that and not be judgemental.

The following is my take on the emerging threats:-

- Religious Fundamentalism, legalism and Pride (eg Pharisees)

- Religious Idol Worship (inclusive of self and money, worship Pope, Saints, Mary)

- Temptation (by the Evil One?)- for power, wealth, as Jesus was also tempted. Prosperity theology comes in here.

Bashing up gays is a temptation… for it impacts the church by reducing our moral credibility.

It is not an emergent threat rather, it has always been there.

The Solution is “Grace”.
