A New Creation Church Member Responds…

Below is a letter that was published on ST Forum written by a New Creation Church member in response to the flak drawn by their $660 million lifestyle hub project in Bouna Vista. An interested read for added perspective.

Churches are not buildings. We are a body of worshippers, whose first and primary objective of gathering, is to worship our god. We build communities and social and support networks around our faith.

We gather at least twice weekly: Adults into care groups and main worship, babies and toddlers into childcare, Sunday school for the children, as well as separate programmes for teenagers, singles and the under-30s.

It is a logistical nightmare for us because we gather to a size of 17,000 to 20,000 people, and we are growing at the rate of some 15 per cent to 20 per cent annually.

Unfortunately in Singapore, there are no pastures or land for us to pitch a tent legally for all these activities regularly and consistently. The Singapore Expo or the Indoor Stadium costs $150,000 to $200,000 to rent and equip per session. And this is just for the main service. We have to keep the children at home and suspend all other activities.

The Saint in this Devil

Manchester United’s latest Red Devil, Dimitar Berbatov speaks…

“And when I realise I give myself airs, the red light in my head flashes. Many times I was ashamed because of some of the things I had done….. And I am religious and I take the bible everywhere with me. There are many good pieces of advice for those like me in it.”

Here in My Life by Hillsong United

This song has been an “anchor” for me since I first heard it in May this year. Just an amazing song that never fails to bring me back to my roots as a sinner found by His grace.

Listen and be inspired to reach our destiny that He has prepared for each one of us.

I am a Groundbreaking Thinker

Recently I did a personality test which I thought was rather accurate in its description of me. Here is a summary:

Groundbreaking ThinkerGroundbreaking Thinkers are charming, enthusiastic persons. They really bubble over with energy and like to take centre stage. They love variety both professionally and privately.

Groundbreaking Thinkers tackle changes consistently with their optimism and firm belief in their own abilities; they are always on the look-out for improvement possibilities. Their excellent communication skills are of great advantage to them here.

On Work life

In their work, Groundbreaking Thinkers highly rate challenges and diversified tasks. They cannot stand routine and too detailed work. They love to astound others with bold ideas for an original, new project and then leave it up to the others to implement them.

Hierarchies, rules and regulations arouse their opposition and they love outsmarting the system. It can happen that some people feel somewhat duped by their flexible, spontaneous nature.

Their sociability and enterprise ensure that Groundbreaking Thinkers always have a large circle of friends and acquaintances in which activity plays an important role. As they are mostly in a good mood, they are popular and very welcome guests. Grumbling and peevishness are unknown to them. However, they do tend to be a little erratic and unstable when it comes to obligations and this makes them appear to be unreliable to some.

On Love life

Groundbreaking Thinkers are very critical and demanding when it comes to picking a partner because they look for the ideal relationship and have a very concrete picture of this ideal relationship. Mutual aims in life are very important to them. They do not like compromising and would rather remain alone.

For the partner, it is often a challenge to have a long-term relationship with a Groundbreaking Thinker. Groundbreaking Thinkers need a lot of space and diversity or otherwise they become bored and feel cramped.

Types who are rather more traditionalistic often have problems with the willingness of Groundbreaking Thinkers to take risks and their often crazy, spontaneous actions. However, if one can summon up sufficient flexibility and tolerance for them, one will never be bored in their presence and will always have a loyal and faithful partner.

The Chosen Ones

Recently I caught up on listening some songs by my favourite trance artiste, ATB. Its been ages since I last heard his productions and I’ve observed how his music has matured.

Here’s a simple but fantastic song- The Chosen Ones- which I personally like a lot. The lyrics of this song is very stirring.

Do enjoy it.

It’s time to make up your mind
It’s time to start running
To better keep the faith before it’s gone
Another day, a brand new warning
Whatever it takes I’ll bring you home

What if we believe in what others cannot see
What if we are the chosen ones
What if I don’t mean a word and I’ll be gone
But what if we are the chosen ones

It’s time to wake up, time to make up your mind
Because we are the chosen ones
It’s time to wake up, time to make up your mind
Because we are the chosen ones
