Looking Onwards, Moving Forward

The Message:

Then another said, “I’m ready to follow you, Master, but first excuse me while I get things straightened out at home.”

Jesus said, “No procrastination. No backward looks. You can’t put God’s kingdom off till tomorrow. Seize the day.”

New International Version:

Still another said, “I will follow you, Lord; but first let me go back and say good-by to my family.”

Jesus replied, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.”

Luke 9:61-62

  1. Andrew,
i think this talks more about sacrifice & being ready,
    than to seize the day?

“Stop loving this evil world and all that it offers you, for when you love the world, you show that you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only the lust for physical pleasure, the lust for everything we see, and pride in our possessions. These are not from the Father. They are from this evil world. And this world is fading away, along with everything it craves. But if you do the will of God, you will live forever. ”
    1John2.15-17 (NLT)

  2. joe:

Making a decision to sacrifice also requires on to seize the opportunity doesn’t it?

It takes eyes of faith and a heart of obedience to receive what we do not see yet.

Everyday should be siezed and be make counted for Him. Carpe Diem!

    Hope this clarifies =)

  3. For 20 yrs, i was taught doing my own will & seizing opportunities is the same as doing Lord’s Will until i met with a car accident in 1998. How can our will/desires ever be even close to the Lord’s WILL?

From the source of Carpe_diem, it’s for those atheists who trust neither in the Living GOd nor in man-made idols, without a future & a hope, and trusting in themselves & that moment only.
