We Are to Engage the World

“Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept.

We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand.

Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.”

Matthew 5:14-16 (The Message)

Walking in Confidence with God

“Vindicate me, O LORD,
    for I have led a blameless life;
    I have trusted in the LORD
    without wavering.

Test me, O LORD, and try me,
    examine my heart and my mind;

or your love is ever before me,
    and I walk continually in your truth.”

Psalm 26:1-3 (NIV)

It is The Lord who will enable us for Battle

As for God, his way is perfect;
   the word of the LORD is flawless.
   He is a shield
   for all who take refuge in him.

For who is God besides the LORD ?
   And who is the Rock except our God?

It is God who arms me with strength
   and makes my way perfect.

He makes my feet like the feet of a deer;
   he enables me to stand on the heights.

He trains my hands for battle;
   my arms can bend a bow of bronze.

You give me your shield of victory,
    and your right hand sustains me;
    you stoop down to make me great.

Psalm 18:30-35 (NIV)

I will trust in You

“The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed,
     a stronghold in times of trouble.

Those who know your name will trust in you,
     for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.”

Psalm 9:9-10 (NIV)

Putting Things in Perspective

When I consider your heavens,
     the work of your fingers,
     the moon and the stars,
     which you have set in place,

what is man that you are mindful of him,
     the son of man that you care for him?

You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings
     and crowned him with glory and honor.

You made him ruler over the works of your hands;
     you put everything under his feet:

all flocks and herds,
     and the beasts of the field,

the birds of the air,
     and the fish of the sea,
     all that swim the paths of the seas.

O LORD, our Lord,
     how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Psalm 8:3-9 (NIV)

Putting our Hope in the Lord

“He gives strength to the weary
    and increases the power of the weak.

Even youths grow tired and weary,
    and young men stumble and fall;

but those who hope in the LORD
    will renew their strength.
    They will soar on wings like eagles;
    they will run and not grow weary,
    they will walk and not be faint.”

Isaiah 40:29-31 (NIV)

Finding His Calling In The Marketplace

Then the Lord said to Moses,

“Look, I have specifically chosen Bezalel son of Uri, grandson of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. I have filled him with the Spirit of God, giving him great wisdom, ability, and expertise in all kinds of crafts.

He is a master craftsman, expert in working with gold, silver, and bronze. He is skilled in engraving and mounting gemstones and in carving wood. He is a master at every craft!

Exodus 31:1-5 (NLT)

The Promise of the Gift of Salvation

But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming:

That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

Romans 10:8-10 (NIV)

God is the Strength of My Heart

“When my heart was grieved
    and my spirit embittered,
I was senseless and ignorant;
    I was a brute beast before you.

Yet I am always with you;
    you hold me by my right hand.

You guide me with your counsel,
    and afterward you will take me into glory.

Whom have I in heaven but you?
    And earth has nothing I desire besides you.

My flesh and my heart may fail,
    but God is the strength of my heart
    and my portion forever.”

Psalm 73:21-26 (NIV)
