Seems like this melamine saga is far from over. Now more products have been found tainted with melamine.

Of Milk and Malady
Who’d have thought beneath the gaudy glory
the pomp and pleasantry of Beijing Games
A game of conspiracy was brewing its
Own media maelstrom of milk and malady
These malevolent manufacturers
There’s madness in their methods surely
Four babies dead, thousands more sick maybe
No longer just a tragic footnote contained
in faraway China, in Singapore
thousands more madly ring service hotlines
shouting hotly the hottest buzzword – Melamine

CHRISTIANITY TODAY
Interviewed By Sarah Palliam and Ted Olsen
You’ve talked about your experience walking down the aisle at Trinity United Church of Christ, and kneeling beneath the cross, having your sins redeemed, and submitting to God’s will. Would you describe that as a conversion? Do you consider yourself born again?
I am a Christian, and I am a devout Christian. I believe in the redemptive death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I believe that that faith gives me a path to be cleansed of sin and have eternal life.
But most importantly, I believe in the example that Jesus set by feeding the hungry and healing the sick and always prioritizing the least of these over the powerful.
I didn’t ‘fall out in church’ as they say, but there was a very strong awakening in me of the importance of these issues in my life. I didn’t want to walk alone on this journey. Accepting Jesus Christ in my life has been a powerful guide for my conduct and my values and my ideals.
There is one thing that I want to mention that I think is important. Part of what we’ve been seeing during the course this campaign is some scurrilous e-mails that have been sent out, denying my faith, talking about me being a Muslim, suggesting that I got sworn in the U.S. Senate with a Quran in my hand or that I don’t pledge allegiance to the flag. I think it’s really important for your readers to know that I have been a member of the same church for almost 20 years, and I have never practiced Islam. I am respectful of the religion, but it’s not my own.
One of the things that’s very important in this day and age is that we don’t use religion as a political tool and certainly that we don’t lie about religion as a way to score political points. I just thought it was important to get that in there to dispel rumors that have been over the Internet. We’ve done so repeatedly, but obviously it’s a political tactic of somebody to try to provide this misinformation.

Uncanny resemblance between the two? Ha ha
It will be exactly two weeks from now that the US and the world will know who will be the next US President to lead for the next four years.
The latest polls from Gallup, the Washington Post, Ipsos and Ramussen put Senator Obama on 52 per cent, 53 per cent, 48 per cent and 50 per cent to Senator McCain’s 42 per cent, 43 per cent, 39 per cent and 36 per cent nationally.
Will it be the Democrat, Mr Barack Obama or the Republican, Mr John McCain?
If you are clueless who they are and what they stand for, you can visit this site for an overview comparison of their plans and policies.
But on a personal note. Whoever it might be, it beats having Mr Bush around. Thanks to his leadership, whoever becomes the next President will inherit a big mess to clean up.

This is an excerpt of a comment taken from the ST discussion board:
If a war were to start today, the govt will immediately mobilise our NSmen in the country’s defence, I have no doubt about that.
NSmen will be reminded of their pledge to protect the nation and no doubt the PM and his cabinet will go whole hog on national TV to remind NSmen that they would be defending not only the country but their loved ones and remind them of the consequences should the enemy were to overrun this place.
But when there is a crisis such as the present when thousands of Singaporeans watch helplessly as their life savings are going to literally disappeared into thin air THE SILENCE OF THE PM AND HIS CABINET IS VERY VERY DEAFENING AND TELLING INDEED!
What has happened to all those theories about social, economic, military and psychological defence under the oft-repeated TOTAL DEFENCE concept promulgated by the govt? Are they all merely theories? Intended merely as propaganda to keep Singaporeans in line only?

Knowing the different Names of God will help us to understand and relate with Him better. When we relate right with God, we also live our lives right.

Jehovah: Comes from a verb which means “to exist, be” and commonly also known as Yahweh (YHWH). This, plus its usage, shows that this name stresses God as the independent and self-existent God of revelation and redemption (Ex. 3:12-14).
Jehovah-Elohim The Eternal Creator (Isa. 17:6)
Jehovah-Jireh The Lord our Provider (Gen. 22:14)
Jehovah-Nissi The Lord our Banner (Ex. 17:15)
Jehovah-Ropheka The Lord our Healer (Ex. 15:22-26)
Jehovah-Shalom The Lord our Peace (Jud. 6:24)
Jehovah-Tsidkenu The Lord our Righteousness (Jer. 23:6)
Jehovah-Mekaddishkem The Lord our Sanctifier (Ex. 31:13)
Jehovah-Sabaoth The Lord of Hosts (1 Sam.17:45)
Jehovah-Shammah The Lord is Present (Ezek. 48:35)
Jehovah-Rohi The Lord our Shepherd (Ps. 23:1)
Jehovah-Hoseenu The Lord our Maker (Psalm 95:6)
El-Shaddai The God Who is Sufficient for the Needs of His People (Gen 17:1-2)
Even within the Christian circles, Mr Kong’s teachings have come under fire: Many frown on his prosperity preaching which focuses on financial blessings.
But he makes no apologies.
‘Christianity is a practical faith of meeting human needs. We address issues pertaining to all aspects of a person’s development and needs.
Besides, we encourage our members to give their time and finances to charitable works which requires them to first better themselves financially.’

Below is a letter that was published on ST Forum written by a New Creation Church member in response to the flak drawn by their $660 million lifestyle hub project in Bouna Vista. An interested read for added perspective.
Churches are not buildings. We are a body of worshippers, whose first and primary objective of gathering, is to worship our god. We build communities and social and support networks around our faith.
We gather at least twice weekly: Adults into care groups and main worship, babies and toddlers into childcare, Sunday school for the children, as well as separate programmes for teenagers, singles and the under-30s.
It is a logistical nightmare for us because we gather to a size of 17,000 to 20,000 people, and we are growing at the rate of some 15 per cent to 20 per cent annually.
Unfortunately in Singapore, there are no pastures or land for us to pitch a tent legally for all these activities regularly and consistently. The Singapore Expo or the Indoor Stadium costs $150,000 to $200,000 to rent and equip per session. And this is just for the main service. We have to keep the children at home and suspend all other activities.
