Uniquely Being Human

To love and to be lovedHave you ever wondered why it seems that we, human beings are the only creatures on the face of this planet that is constantly looking for LOVE?

Or why we it seems that we are uniquely able to LOVE and not other creatures?

For certain, we can never expect animals to exhibit compassion, kindness or mercy. These virtues can only be expected and seen in us, human beings.

Why is this so?

Uniquely created by God

According to some readings, our primary motivation as human beings to love is to expand the self and to increase our abilities and our effectiveness. And one of the ways we accomplish this is through our relationships with other people.

But this does not explain how we attain this potential and the ability to love.

Opposing to Darwin’s theory that human beings evolved from apes, I am more convinced that our unique existence is crafted by none other than GOD.

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.

God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

Genesis 1:26-28

And I think there’s a good reason why his (Darwin’s) theory since 1838 has still remain as a theory till today.

Created in God’s image

Besides being Scriptural, this also seems like a more logical reason to why we, as human being have this innate desire to love and to be loved. Cos God is LOVE, and so that is precisely why we who are made in His image have that ability to reflect His love.

Secondly, Scripture explains that we are made above all other living creatures, which explains our superiority in intelligence and the ability to innovate; rising above the merely live-to-survive mode and being able to contribute to the betterment of life on earth.

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

Romans 1:20

Therefore, looking hard at human beings actually points us to the existence of a God and a special relationship that we share with Him.

So wouldn’t you agree that we, human beings are exceptionally unique with a divine heritage and calling?

  1. Exceptionally unique indeed. Without being in Christ, humans beings demonstrate exactly the same carnal nature as animals, all being made from the dust of the ground.

To the woman he said, “I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing;with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.”

To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat of it,’
“Cursed is the ground because of you;through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life. It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground,
since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.”
    Genesis 3:16-19

For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Romans1:21

  2. Well, sometime Andrew, you have remind the people around you that they are human, they are uniquely created by God. Quite often, I found people behave like zombie. They don’t seem to have a mind of their own.
You can say, they have numerous of degrees, PHD; but so what? They let the paper decide what they are. Pathetic.
Like I tell one of my friend, if you know how to create a new thinking, knowledge from your previous experience, knowledge and understanding – then you are a master. By reading a lot, don’t make you a master.
Lot of people cultivate characters, but they never reflect on the acts of God. What is the use of having good character, the people of world also have good character. Then what difference between a good christian and a good non-christian? No difference.

There are too many power freak and control freak who disguise themselves as good character. No wonder, Jesus say, there are wolf disguise as sheep.

Great character are developed a upon some kind of hardship. I hope that those “wolf who disguise as sheep” will be tested this way, just like God have let Jobs take the test He intended for him. Soon their lousy mask will shame a upon them.

Amen. Only in Him and thru Him can we actualise our fullest potential to love and live.

    Caesar:

Ya i agree with your sentiments… guess we need to pray for those around us as much as we can and for ourselves to be that example to serve as a light.

    Let’s jia you 🙂

  4. Hope you can make some changes.
I also see changes around my friends.
I feel my friend, Jianyang need a push of faith to reach the next level of his life. I believe that he will have a leap of faith as God have promised. I prayed that he will have the blessing of Abraham.
As for my friend, Peter now he is in another church. He must learn to relax himself, I am also glad he found a church that he can find his rest. I prayed that he will have the life of Isaac, where God bless Isaac’s life with abundant and rest.
As for my friend, Jack is now no very in touch with the church due to some incidents. I prayed that God will found him back one day, he too will found favor in God just like Jacob, who finally the way of God in days go by.
May Abraham’s blessing go to Jianyang, Isaac’s rest be a upon Peter and Jacob’s favor onto Jack.
    Amen…
