During Easter Service on 23 March 2008, I was given the opportunity to share about my 8-year journey with God since the day I made a commitment to follow Him whole-heartedly.
This was my third time being able to testify of God’s love and power in my life to the congregation. And despite having to serve my reservist over that weekend, I was divinely granted permission to leave for that particular Sunday.
I recalled that my first time was sharing my conversion story through “The Time is Now” brochure in 2001. The second time was told by one of the Pastors through his sermon about living a life in God’s purpose with my testimony about my studies in 2006.
However, this third time was done with me sharing live on stage. It was special and I took it as a personal tribute to give God all glory as my Saviour and Lord.

Ya I agree that Easter has nothing to do with Jesus.
I guess it so happens that Easter day is the third day that Jesus resurrected, and that is what most churches (I hope) is communicating and correcting about Easter; that it is not about the easter bunny but about Jesus- the life and resurrection.
I think it is contextualising Christ to our culture just as how we chinese Christians also celebrate chinese new year with hong baos with its other pagan traditions or practices.
But we celebrate CNY with the spirit of loving and honoring our family and relatives, using it as a good opportunity to catch up with family members over reunions.
Do you think this approach is acceptable? For Easter and CNY.

You will realize that 3 days after Friday is Monday. DO we celebrate CNY festival together with Christ, or say the names of pagan taoist idols when giving hongbaos?
Why do you believe the things you believe, and do the things you do? Can you really give a tribute with a pagan name to the Lord???

I’m so thankful to here a heavy testimony. This give give more hope and faith that my son will truly turn his life around. He will be giong to prison and I’m believing God to take full control of the courts April 13/09. My son life is similar to what you went though and if God can deliver you he can do the same for my son. Pray for him (andrew).
