  1. From the looks of it, it looked as they were nominated and picked by TIME.

But in my opinion, this is not completely accurate of cos.

Its more for an interest read up cos I am wondering how many Christians are in TIME 100?

Prayerfully, more Christ followers will rise up in their capacities and positions wherever they are to be a positive influence in shining for Jesus πŸ™‚

  2. but then again, Christians do the work of God not for glory or status or being nominated in TIME100. they are impacting the world in their individual ways.

  3. Thought-provoking… think both of you guys got very good and valid points… as salt n light, we must do our best to impact the world for Jesus… but at the same time, just because we may not be nominated in the top 100 list doesn’t necessarily mean tt we are not being used by God to impact the world.

Conclusion so far: wherever we are, be it in a low place or high place, let’s shine our utmost 110% for His highest. Doesn’t matter whether we have one talent or ten… it’s the percentage that counts! Let’s keep on spurring each other on to go stronger, go faster and go higher to win the world to Him!

  4. Ha ha… ya I share the same viewpoint from you (tsl) that we do not do what we do for our self-promotion or to be nominated in some TIME 100. But if it happens it is for His glory.

In addition, I believe we as Christian need to clib up the value chain in society to be contributors not just consumers in whatever field or industry He has placed us in.

Whether we are a dish-washer or a CEO, we work with excellence to be a “leader” leading by example of how God makes a difference in one’s life.

Therefore, ideally Christians should be the “leaders” in every industry and field cos God calls us to be the head not the tail. So that we might provide the tipping point for the lost to enter into the kingdom of God.

“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. NEIHER DO PEOPLE LIGHT A LAMP AND PUT IT UNDER A BOWL. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”

    Matt 5:14-16 (NIV)

  5. being a light of the world can be to buy a meal for the beggar by the street, or a smile to the prostitute down the road.

  6. Social economists rank them. They are ranked according to their annual earnings and their achievements (what they moved or shook).

  7. I believe most of these people started off with doing what they needed to do – perhaps, to place food on the table for themselves and family members. Once they find their passion or niche they can flourish in, they develop the skills necessary to make it to the top. Being super-influential wasn’t their initial intention at all.

Take for example Jackie Chan. He started out as a stuntsman. Came from a not-so-good “poor” family. But his passion in creating movies led him to give his feedback and ideas to producers he work with. They took his feedback seriously and he is where he is now today. GREEDY? No. Influential? To an extent YES for the movie industry.

Every influential person has his/her own beliefs/faith and a large portion of them are, unmistakably, CHRISTIANS. Fact, not fiction.

  8. It isn’t so much that a Christian must be a leader…it’s whether a Christian has the attitude, knowledge and the right tools and the right “timing” to do what he wants to achieve. That achievement can be as great as a small thing. A Christian who does not have the right “recipe” (by grace of the Lord) may only be a follower but that’s alright too.

A SMILE TO A PROSTITUTE can be life-saving because you do not know if she’s about to kill herself. This small act in itself in great.

Sorry for flooding Andrew but this blog is a good thing to discuss.

  9. Errata: A SMILE TO A PROSTITUTE can be life-saving because you do not know if she’s about to kill herself. This small act in itself is great.

  10. Light of the world.
Like the Sun, which provide the sunlight to the earth. Sun cannot be emotional and say today I am moody I don’t shine to the world. Sun shine to the world because is it’s natural.
Like the heaven and earth, they keep providing for men – while men keep on taking in. There is why heaven and earth is lasting for thousands thousands of years while men last for most 100 years.
    Jesus say,
I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.
Jesus is love, His love is natural, not emotional.

    When Jesus say to Peter,
    Do you love me?
    What is your reply then…….

  11. Buy a meal to beggar
    Smile to the prostitute

Jesus say, The person who does the will of my Father in Heaven is my brother, my sister, my mother.

The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’ – Matthew 25:40
